The onset of the fourth industrial revolution known as “Industry 4.0” is a key technological feature at the current stage of human development. This term was coined in 2011, as the German government defined “Industry 4.0” as an integral element of the German “High-tech strategy 2020”. The working group on Industry 4.0 characterized its vision of the new industrial revolution as a worldwide implementation of cyber physical systems in manufacturing processes, which are in charge not only for certain manufacturing stages but are able to monitor and optimize manufacturing processes completely on its own. “Industry 4.0” is an introduction of computer-aided production processes operated by intelligent systems in real time mode continuously interacting with the external environment beyond the boundary of a single company and with a prospective of incorporation into the global production network for products and services ensured by “the Internet of Things” and “the Internet of People”.

An essential prerequisite for a successful implementation of the „Industry 4.0“ is the training of professionals competent in effectively using huge opportunities of the innovative solutions offered by the fourth industrial revolution.

In 2018 INTAMT Academy successfully applied for ERASMUS+ funding of the INDEX project “Industrial Expert”. A multinational project consortium has been developing an e-learning platform for subjects related to Industry 4.0.

E-learning resource “INDEX Industry Expert” is designed as an open network capable to integrate educational courses on specific Industry 4.0. components. Within the present project 6 educational courses will be developed:

  • Industry 4.0: Introduction course
  • Sensor technology and automation
  • Additive manufacturing
  • Internet of Things
  • Augmented reality
  • Entrepreneurship, technology and restructuring management

In terms of their contents and methodology the courses will be designed in such a way that they can be understood without prior academic qualification. It will make them especially suitable for vocational training programs.

The INDEX project has been implemented by a project consortium consisting of experts from 5 European countries:

  • INTAMT  (Germany) coordinates the project
  • ASEV Empolese Valdelsa Spa Development Agency (Italy)
  • IFAC The “Nello Carrara” Institute of Applied Physics (Italy)
  • Polytechnic University of Bucharest (Romania)
  • University of Łódź (Poland)
  • University of Applied Science STICHTING SAXION (the Netherlands)

The project started on September 9, 2018 and will be completed on August 31, 2021.

The project stages and outputs are presented on the website www.industrialexpert.eu

The INDEX Project is co-funded by the ERASMUS+ programme of the European Union. Speichern & Beenden
