From 9 to 15 September, the INTAMT Academy organised a seminar for Kazakhstani experts working in the social sector. The primary objective was to study and adapt leading European methods concerning social security and comprehensive rehabilitation for individuals with disabilities to the context of Kazakhstan.
Participants, including senior officials from the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Republic of Kazakhstan and representatives from UNDP Kazakhstan, had the unique opportunity to delve into the organisation and financing of services for people with disabilities in North Rhine-Westphalia (Germany) and the Netherlands.
The seminar focused on institutions providing medical, social, and vocational rehabilitation services. Additionally, it examined the integration and reintegration of individuals with disabilities and chronic illnesses into the labor market. The Kazakhstani specialists visited key components of the complex social systems, such as the Ministry of Labour, Health, and Social Affairs of NRW, the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment of the Netherlands, medical and vocational rehabilitation centers, employment agencies, providers of pension and health insurance, care services, and more.
This seminar served as a platform for exchanging experiences and undoubtedly contributed to the development of a more sophisticated and effective social security system in Kazakhstan. Insights into the advanced systems of Germany and the Netherlands offer valuable guidance for innovations in Kazakhstan’s social sector.
