On 19 September 2019, INTAMT is organising an international conference on professional inclusion, supported by the Federal Foreign Office of Germany within the framework of the program for development of cooperation with civil society in the Eastern Partnership countries and Russia, under the motto “DISEMEX+East – Together for inclusion”.

Even since the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities entered into force in Germany in 2009, the issue of inclusion has been the subject of a sometimes very controversial debate. The focus here is on the human rights-based ideal of a society that promises equal opportunities and equal participation to all people, with or without disabilities. However, people with disabilities still face problems in their professional lives on developing their career in the first labour market. The Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities has undoubtedly set in motion a process that has improved the living conditions and opportunities for participation of people with disabilities. However, efficient mechanisms to ensure sustainable change are still lacking.

On 01.09.2018 and 05.07.2019, INTAMT launched two European projects to promote the professional inclusion of people with disabilities. The first Erasmus+ project DISEMEX aims at analysing best practice examples for the mediation and exchange of innovative solutions for the integration of people with disabilities in the first labour market. The second project DISEMEX + EAST represents an extension of the first EU project co-financed by the Federal Foreign Office. The additional title “East” refers to the countries of the Eastern Partnership of the EU plus Russia and includes 9 organizations from 6 countries (Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine and Russia). Therefore,  we expect additional insights and perspectives that should enrich European experience in inclusion.

More than 40 participants of the two projects from 14 countries will come to the conference organised by the INTAMT Academy on 19 September to exchange best practice examples.

At the event, numerous members of the DISEMEX and DISEMEX + East projects as well as invited experts will present the international experiences from the participating countries and present practical aspects of the professional inclusion of people with disabilities.
