Innovative technologies in the field of livestock farming in Germany and the Netherlands were the subject of the study tour for the specialists from Kazakhstan. From 13 to 19 July, the participants used the opportunity to learn about the know-how of the leading agricultural enterprises and farms. During the visit of the Federal Association of German Beef Cattle Breeders and Farmers (BDF) and the Chamber of Agriculture of North Rhine-Westphalia, fundamental issues were highlighted: the organisation of agricultural production, various breeding methods, the development and implementation of innovative technologies in livestock breeding, production distribution, state subsidies as well as the work of farmers’ associations. Furthermore, it was emphasised how indispensable good training of future specialists is for successful sector development. The experts from Kazakhstan also visited a number of family farms that specialise in breeding certain breeds of cattle. A slaughterhouse tour focused on slaughtering procedures and techniques, as well as technologies for meat production and environmental protection. In addition, the meat assortment of the slaughterhouse was inspected. In the Netherlands, the Kazakh livestock representatives visited a dairy factory and a dairy cattle farm. This gave the study tour participants a good overview of the livestock breeding system in Germany and the Netherlands and of the work of selected livestock farms.
