The topic “Training and integration into working life of people with disabilities” was the focus of a training course for managers from Russia and Kazakhstan. This was part of the seminar series “European experiences in rehabilitation and social integration of people with disabilities” organised by the INTAMT Academy. From 12 to 16 October 2015, the four-member delegation took part in numerous events. The programme included a visit to the North Rhine-Westphalian Ministry of Labour, Integration and Social Affairs, the Ministry of School and Further Education and the “Rehacare International” trade fair. The participants of the training learned what concrete support for people with disabilities can look like from the example of the Workshop for Adapted Work (Werkstatt für angepasste Arbeit, wfaa). Since 1976, the wfaa has seen itself as a reliable partner of industry and already employs more than 1,500 people. The delegation then arrived at the Evangelische Stiftung Volmarstein, where about 340 young people with disabilities are currently being trained. In addition to training in various professions, they receive medical as well as psychological, social and socio-pedagogical support. The DoBuS initiative “Disability and Studies” at the Centre for Higher Education at TU Dortmund University was also visited. This was of particular interest to the participants as it is a unique institution in the Federal Republic of Germany.
