In May 2018, the INTAMT Academy once again organized a study tour on “Obstetrics and Gynecology in the Netherlands. Emergency care in neonatology “. The participants of the study tour included representatives of the Ministry of Health of the Moscow Region and their colleagues – doctors from Kazakhstan.
The acquaintance with organization of the Dutch health services began in Utrecht. In this city, a meeting with the President of the Netherlands Association for Obstetrics and Gynecology (NVOG) and the Association for Pediatrics, giving insights into perinatal medicine was held.
The next appointment took place at the Royal Netherlands Organization of Midwives (KNOV). This is a unique organization centered on, among other things, home births.
About 15% of pregnant women in the Netherlands choose this type of delivery.
Subsequently, the delegation visited the Clinic for Obstetrics, Gynecology and Neonatology “Maxima Medical Center” in Eindhoven. It is not for nothing that this city is known as an engine of economic growth, as it is where the best researchers in the country are working. With them doctors of the clinic “Maxima”, where innovative medical technologies are used, work closely together. In preparation for the deployment of new technological solutions, staff had to undergo additional intensive retraining and training. Foreign guests could a.o. see a device for prenatal diagnostics. Thus, the fetal heart rate in the womb is measured very accurately – unlike previous devices that could only calculate mean. Moreover, this non-invasive diagnostic method is associated with even less risk than the ultrasound we all know.
